Making A Suburban Meadow
In the spring of 2023 we set out to convert our client’s unused area of turf grass along the side of her landscape.
With this project we set out to transform the space into a beautiful and functional garden by combining a formal block planting approach with a diverse species list of flowers and grasses to mimic the natural structure of a meadow. This matrix planting approach allows for a meadow that exhibits a designed aesthetic while also benefiting from the stregth of a diverse mixing of species to create a more stable plant community.
A multi season flowering display moves throughout the space while pockets of a grass matrix underpin the whole planting to give it structure and consistency all year.
