Here the aim is to design perennial food producing system that allow for year after year production. Through the lens of how forest eco systems replicate themselves, we look towards the density and layering that nature produces on her own. In looking at all the layers of a forest (overstory, shrub, herbaceous, ground cover, root, and vine) we aim to fill all those niches with food or medicinal varieties of plants. Currently on our 260 sq/ft of a side pathway on the property we are growing
Overstory: Peach, Apple, Pear, Cherry,
Shrub: Raspberries, Blueberries, Gooseberry, Cherry
Herbacious: Perennial Onions, Garlic.
Ground Cover: Strawberries
Some annual cultivation is still currently happening with kale, lettuce, tomatoes and beans.
Future additions to the space to replace the annuals will include, goji berry, asparagus, and sea kale (perennial).
